Volunteering with youth experiencing homelessness throughout college sparked 肖恩's passion for nonprofit and community-based work. That experience opened his eyes to see how young people without a home are disparately impacted by inequity. From that point forward, 肖恩 dedicated his personal and professional lives to creating opportunities for those around him. He is committed to the Foundation’s mission because he knows that thousands of Coloradans don’t have what they need to thrive and that we have an opportunity to change that.
肖恩's early career spanned across roles including on-site resident manager for a permanent supportive housing program, eviction-prevention family advocacy case management and other roles in communications and community engagement. He also participated in Nonprofits First's Rising Leaders, a leadership program for nonprofit professionals in Palm Beach County. This year-long program taught him about his own leadership style and how to develop his own strengths as well as those of his team members. After serving on a place-based resident team in Lake Worth, Florida through Palm Health Foundation, he knew his dream was to someday work for a statewide health foundation addressing deeply-rooted, systemic inequities.
Though now a member of the Community Investment & Impact team, 肖恩 started with The Foundation as an Associate Communications Officer in 2017. While on the Communications team, he was responsible for telling the stories of the Foundation's work and communicating our impact in a meaningful way. 肖恩's passion for pursuing this job transition was sparked by the opportunity to serve cross-functionally as a member of the affordable housing implementation team, in addition to working closely on "公里公路行程," helping president and CEO Karen McNeil-Miller connect with communities throughout the state.
In his role as 项目官员, 肖恩 is a member of the Foundation’s Affordable Housing and Food Access and Security teams. 肖恩 works diligently to build authentic, trusting partnerships with community leaders and service providers so that Coloradans facing unfair barriers have voice, agency and power to improve their lives.
When he's not visiting local coffee shops or volunteering, 肖恩 loves getting out for hikes in the Rockies or exploring Denver on foot, preferably while listening to an engaging podcast, and bringing his passion for making a positive impact into all areas of his life.
